🧠 Thinking Beyond the Surface: Critical Thinking for Youth Engagement Program Focus: Empowerment through Logic, Analysis, and Problem-Solving Target Audience: Youth Leaders and Active Community Members of the Gabiley Region Program Overview In a world of rapid information and complex social challenges, the ability to think critically is the most valuable tool a young leader can possess. This training program is designed to move youth from passive observation to active, analytical participation in their communities. By mastering critical thinking, the youth of Gabiley will be better equipped to solve local problems, resist misinformation, and lead with clarity. Core Training Modules The Anatomy of an Argument: Distinguishing between Fact vs. Opinion. Identifying logical fallacies (common errors in reasoning). Recognizing personal and cultural biases. The 5-Step Problem Solving Framework: Identify: Defining the root cause of a community issue. Analyze: Gathering evidence and diverse perspectives. Brainstorm: Generating creative, non-obvious solutions. Evaluate: Assessing the risks and benefits of each option. Action: Implementing and reflecting on the outcome. Digital Literacy & Information Hygiene: Evaluating the credibility of online sources and social media news. Understanding how "echo chambers" affect our decision-making. Safe and ethical use of AI and digital tools. Strategic Dialogue & Debating: Learning to disagree respectfully using evidence-based reasoning. The art of asking "Powerful Questions" to spark deeper community conversations. Interactive Methodology This is not a lecture-based program. We believe in Learning by Doing: Case Studies: Analyzing real-world challenges faced by the Gabiley community and proposing structured solutions. The "Six Thinking Hats" Method: A role-playing exercise where youth look at problems from different perspectives (Emotional, Logical, Creative, etc.). Youth-Led Forums: Participants will moderate discussions on local development, practicing their ability to guide group logic.
